What thoughts I have I have of you tonight
Shuffling down the side streets in the blinding moonlight
I stroll to the store in a sort of hungry fatigure
Looking for you to turn true my dreams
Husbands, wives, babies in the aisles
Familiar faces, same old sinister smiles

I see you there alone, your silver hair, your aching bones
No child, no lover in sight
Like me your lone companion
Is the long and lonely night

The doors of the store in an hour are sure to close
Where then will the ghosts of the grocery store to go
We can't hide among the punumbras, the peaches, the
Avacados, no no no
So we'll stroll through the streets of a lost America
Looking for the lost land, wishing for what once was
Wishing for what once was
